Case Study — How We Control Hinge Consistency

From precision installation to durability testing, every step is controlled for a consistent hinge feel.

Product: Acetate Optical Frames
Focus: Hinge Assembly & Quality Control

Why Hinge Consistency Matters

Small differences in hinge position or assembly can affect how a frame feels when the temples are opened and closed.

To improve consistency across production, we control the hinge process at four key stages.

01. Computer-Controlled Hinge Positioning

Hinge positions are precisely located and installed by computer-controlled equipment, helping reduce positioning variation between frames.

02. Machine-Assisted Assembly

Hinge assembly is completed with dedicated equipment to maintain more consistent positioning and assembly control.

03. Manual Inspection & Adjustment

After assembly, each frame is manually checked for temple alignment, opening resistance and overall hinge feel.

04. Hinge Durability Testing

For every production batch, frames are selected for repeated opening and closing tests to verify hinge durability and performance.

The Result

More consistent hinge positioning. Smoother opening and closing. Better durability.

At Timing Optical, quality is controlled throughout production — not only at final inspection.
